COMPARISONS BETWEEN USING HEAT-PUMP WATER HEATING SYSTEMS & SUN SOLAR PANEL WATER HEATING

Electrically powered, yet very energy efficient. Reliant on sunlight and sunny conditions.
Minimal element heating is only necessary if water temperature in excess of 50°C is required. When sun fails to heat water, or one has hot water demand in the morning, water temperature is lower because of overnight storage and temperature loss. This necessitates the use of electric elements to “top-up” the water temperature to required heat.
Unit can produce hot water on demand, approx 1.8 times more than the volume of the tank or geyser.   Water volume is limited by size of tank or geyser.
Compact unit size allows for discreet placement.  The medium range weatherproof residential units (for external installation) are aesthetically pleasing and similar in design to an external air conditioner. Large north/ north-west facing angled surface area required for placement of panels which may be unsightly. Water filled panels are heavy, placing strain on building roofing structures.
